Programs and Services

Port View Preparatory School® offers Specialized Academic Instruction (SAI). SAI is a service provided to students with special needs who qualify for special education. It’s a comprehensive offering that includes various services for students depending on their unique diagnosis and needs, including:

  • Consultation between parents/guardians and Port View Prep staff, along with teachers and therapists to provide the best instructional and therapeutic support for each student.
  • Monitoring each student’s progress with regularly scheduled appointments, progress reports and ongoing communication between teachers and parents/guardians.
  • Individualized Instructional Support for students who need additional guidance or assistance with assignments and information presented in class. This also includes pulling students out of class to get special one-on-one or small group instruction on an as-needed or ongoing basis.
  • Collaborative Teaching to encourage knowing and understanding each student – from the classroom to individual therapy sessions. Our team works closely to ensure the best possible education and instruction for each student. This is one area Port View Prep takes great pride in and delivers on this promise daily.
"You guys are a new school but your experience and the love for the students are not. You guys are in the right field. You guys are impacting our children's lives and families in such beautiful way."
- Gilda Bates
"To be honest with you, I haven't had a worry or care in the world about Mikey's safety since he started at PVP."
- Rachel Darr
"My husband was just telling me how much he has seen an improvement in Wendy's behavior. She doesn't seem angry with herself, she seems content with herself, kind of like comfortable with herself, like she's going to be ok knowing she has everyone's support.  She will have difficult days I'm sure but hopefully less aggressive but she will know she will always have  our love, I am cherishing these days and more to come, thanks to you and all the staff."
- Rosa Soto
"My son had been to different Non Public Schools but nothing compared to Port View. We finally found the right and great  school for him. We feel at peace now sending him to school knowing that people will take care of him and able to handle his behaviors. We are so grateful because of this."
- Veronica Barin

Specialized Academic Instruction

Because students with complex special needs have various areas that require individual services and therapies including cognitive, emotional, physiological and social needs, Port View Preparatory® addresses each area in order to provide each student with the individual care and instruction needed to reach their fullest potential. We don’t cut corners at Port View Prep and provide an abundance of therapies and interventions designed to bring out the best in our students, both in the classroom and beyond.

By collaboratively analyzing each student’s IEP, our therapists identify the most effective and positive ways to help improve areas of deficiency in a focused and gentle manner, always communicating areas for improvement and achievement with parents and caregivers. We place high priority on communicating and collaborating with internal staff and parents on the progress of each one of our students. We also request that parents and caregivers be an extension of that open communication model and relay any issues or concerns that may be occurring at home since behaviors, both positive and negative, tend to spill over into school.

Specialized Academic Instruction means each student will be understood wholly in each area of his or her development from academic to social, physical and emotional growth.
